Self-promotional Poster

A good promotional poster will communicate effectively to an audience without needing excessive amounts of information displayed. A big part of a good promotional poster is having a key focal point that gives the viewer an insight into a company/brand.

Effective poster designs include a central image or icon that attracts the viewers’ attention… a poster must include a dominant focal point that stands out

For the first design I took inspiration from a photo I took at a scout camp, I wanted to create a modern poster that is engaging as well as dynamic. To achieve this, I first looked at what font I could use for the text as that will be the first thing a viewer will see.

The first font I looked at was helvetica, whilst the font was a sans-serif font, it did not stand out in a unique way, the second font I looked at was Berlin Sans FB Demi Bold, this font was more suitable for the poster as it captured the liveliness of scouts whilst still being a professional font.

For the second logo I created a poster in a similar style to the first one as the layout and movement was visually appealing , however for this poster I focused more on art and photography.

After replacing the fire with a photo I took at a tattoo studio,I had to adjust the colours of the curves that go across the poster. The reason for this is because the new image has no colours, whereas the original design had reds and oranges. Because the first design was made with none destructive layers, it means that the colours could be reset to its original state and adjusted again.
