Relevant Animation History

The first animation that inspired my project is a cutscene from a game called Resident Evil Village, The meaning from this video is to only take what you need. This is shown when a girl meets different monsters, the first three offer her things like food, water, and clothes, the girl takes the items, but only what she needs to keep going which shows a good balance where everyone benefits.

But when she meets the last monster, a mechanical horse, it doesn’t offer her anything however, the girl gets greedy and steals something valuable from it – a shiny gear. This is different from before because she’s not taking something she needs; she just wants more. It shows she’s being greedy and not respecting what belongs to others.

Her greed quickly leads to bad things happening. The animation makes it clear that taking more than you need has consequences. The main point of the animation is that you should only take what you need and it warns us about wanting too much and how our actions affect others.

The next animation that I used as inspiration simplifies what the seven sins are and has an easy-to-understand animation to go alongside it. The visual style is engaging without being overwhelming, and it breaks down the definitions into short, accessible scenes that anyone can grasp. The video balanced information and entertainment effectively, keeping it engaging throughout, the animation also used humour and exaggeration to make serious topics easier to process without losing their meaning. It showed that moral issues don’t always need to be presented in a harsh or academic way to be impactful. The animation’s clear structure also made it easier to follow.

The second video I used for inspiration.
(Box Family, 2024)

For this video, I took inspiration more from the art style and the way the characters moved rather than focusing solely on the information presented and combined it with the style of the first animation i watched. While the video did a good job of explaining the seven deadly sins in a simple and understandable way, what stood out most to me was the animation’s visual storytelling. The movements of the characters added personality and emotion, making the scenes more engaging. This use of unique movements held my attention throughout the video.
