PSAD: The Moving Image,  Year 2

3D models

The most suitable models to create for this project were a small tea set, as it directly reflects the theme and function of the teashop. ElderHollow is a fantasy-inspired venue, and incorporating tea ware will enhance the experience. As the venue is built around immersive storytelling and whimsical aesthetics, the tea set needed to feel like it belonged in that world. Creating physical items like a teapot, teacup, and spoon helped bring the setting to life in a realistic way. These pieces act as part of the world-building, reinforcing the shop’s magical and folkloric theme. As the project developed, I also decided to design a travel mug to introduce a more modern and versatile product option, extending the brand’s identity into everyday use. This addition allowed for design variety and reflects modern customer habits—bridging the magical atmosphere of ElderHollow with everyday life. The travel mug becomes a way to carry a piece of the story beyond the venue.

The Oak King tea set was heavily inspired by woodland folklore and natural elements. The teapot is designed to resemble a tree stump, symbolising age, rootedness, and wisdom—qualities associated with the Oak King in myth. Its textured bark-like surface and slightly uneven form make it feel like something crafted in the heart of an ancient forest.

The teacup and saucer follow the same organic theme, shaped to look like acorn caps and shells. Their rounded, earthy design feels playful yet rooted in fantasy, appealing to the storytelling sensibilities of ElderHollow’s audience. The spoon, small and delicate, was inspired by a carved twig or root, subtly curved and knotted to match the natural aesthetic. The teacups were also inspired by sake cups which have no handles for people to hold.

Altogether, the set evokes thew feeling that it was hand-fashioned by forest spirits or gifted by the Oak King himself. It’s not just tea ware—it’s a functional artifact from a fairytale world, designed to deepen the guest’s experience and connection with the brand’s story-driven environment.
